My heart is heavy with sadness. . .

This morning my beloved furbaby, Skyler, who loved me faithfully and relentlessly for over 11 years, passed on and is now waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge. He was a Sheltie who was as close to being a human being as any dog I have ever known. In fact, I'm pretty sure he was a human being trapped in a dog's body! He would talk to me, shake hands or give me five (whichever one I chose to call it), and he was the best behaved, most protective dog I have ever owned. It was truly a privlege to be loved by this wonderful creature and my heart is just broken that he is no longer with me.

Run pain free, Big Guy and enjoy your new eternal life. I love you bunches and you will forever live in my heart. . .

Until we meet again. . .

Hugs and kisses,

  8. Sorry for your loss. They certainly do become a huge part of our families. I have a Sheltie/Australian Shepherd mix and she is like my shadow. I'm not sure how much longer we will have her. Her back legs aren't good. That will truly be a sad day for us.

Take comfort in the fact that you loved him and he lived a good life.

    Skyler is most beautiful!
I am saddened by your news. I have had collies and shelties in my lifetime and they are both wonderful breeds. My Remington (sheltie) will be waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge as well.

May God hold you and your family in the palm of his hands and help you all with your grief...

  20. I am so sorry for your loss..here is a poem I have on my blog that I put there when my Otto passed away last march..I hope it brings you comfort..
    REQUEST FROM THE RAINBOW BRIDGE

Weep not for me though I am gone,
    Into that gentle night.
Grieve if you will, but not for long,
    Upon my soul's sweet flight.
I am at peace, my soul's at rest,
There is no need for tears.
For with your love I was so blessed
    For all those many years.
There is no pain, I suffer not,
The fear now all is gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts,
In your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath,
    Remember not the strife,
Please do not dwell upon my death,
    But celebrate my life.

Losing such a loving and loyal friend is so hard, I know...
They are surely a part of the family....and our hearts ache when it's time for them to go...

  23. Oh, Donna, being a dog person, I can truly empathize with you today. I know how you are feeling and I know it takes lots of time to be able to smile with the memories. As Dr. Seuss says
"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."

  26. My heart aches for you Donna! To be loved by a faithful dog is a true love, unconditional in every way, always giving but never asking anything in return. Allow yourself to grieve for this wonderful friend. I'll be saying a prayer for you, I know how much it hurts.
